O que um urso faminto tem a ver com o Apocalipse

bispo Edir Macedo, Estudo do Apocalipse, grupo de conservação,

“And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast, saying, Come, and see.
And I looked, and, behold, a pale horse, and the one that sat on it was named Death; and hell followed him ; and power was given unto them to kill the fourth part of the earth, with sword, and with famine, and with pestilence, and with the wild beasts of the earth” (Revelation 6.7:8)

John’s description of the opening of the fourth seal of Revelation is desperate. There it is clear that the End Times will be painful and frightening. As Bishop Edir Macedo wrote in the book Study of the Apocalypse , it was at that moment that “death and hell received authority to kill through four scourges:

1) By the sword – means world war.

2) Through famine – those who survive the war will experience despair from lack of food. Food shortages will drive people to sacrifice their children.

3) By mortality – with the lack of food, diseases and illnesses will increase, generating death.

4) By the beasts of the Earth – those who overcome war, famine and deadly plagues will have to face the beasts of the Earth, which, by the way, will be as desperately hungry as humanity itself.”

Normally, man imagines that this time is far from happening. After all, it is not part of everyday life for ordinary citizens to see these scourges. However, the signs that the prophecy is approaching are more and more frequent and reach everyone’s eyes through the media and, therefore, there is no longer the excuse of ignorance, as we are all informed day after day about the beginning of the pains that they are nothing less than the beginning of apocalyptic prophecies coming true, even if the effects of such events seem distant in space and time. They are not.

On the 5th, for example, photographer Paul Niklen, a member of the Sea Legacy environmental conservation group , posted a video on his Instagram account with the image that opens this text.

According to Niklen’s account, this is a young polar bear that was starving. In its natural habitat it should have found enough food to stay healthy, but at the moment it was scavenging for food left by fishermen. So weak was he that he could barely support himself on his feet, so Niklen believes the bear died within hours of the film being made.

“This is what the famine situation looks like,” wrote Niklen. “Muscles atrophy. There is no energy. It is a slow and painful death. When scientists say polar bears will be extinct in 100 years, I imagine in the global population of 25,000 polar bears dying this way.”

When we look at the plight of this bear and that of so many people who are still starving today, we can get an idea of the damage the pale horse will do after the fourth seal is opened. According to Bishop Edir Macedo , the beasts of the Earth “will be as desperately hungry as humanity itself”. It would not be surprising that a hungry animal, finding an inhabited village, would attack man for food, fighting for its survival. The animals themselves will not be to blame, as it is their survival instinct acting. Even so, they will be instruments of the apocalyptic being riding the pale horse, Death, the only one of the four horsemen to be clearly identified in the Scriptures, the only one to be addressed by name.

Someone can be moved by the image of an animal that would normally be robust, strong, imposing, used to hunting its food with dexterity and intelligence, debasing itself to a thin and weak being that scavenges garbage. However, the same people would be even more saddened if they realized in that pitiful animal the message that the Scriptures gave well in advance. The End of Time has already announced its “beginning of sorrows”, words of the Lord Jesus himself that compare the fate of human beings to a woman who begins to perceive the signs that she will go into labor.

But these first pains are not the end in themselves, as the Holy Bible with Bishop Edir Macedo’s Notes on Faith confirms: “The beginnings of pain are the events that will precede the second coming of the Lord Jesus. The term translated as ‘birth pangs’ is odinon and refers to the extreme suffering people will go through”.

The certainty that the End Times is approaching is growing. If you want to be ready when that happens, join the Study of Revelation , which takes place every Sunday at your local Help Center .
