com novos planos, prova de amor, seguidor de Deus, topo do monte,
You have taken a difficult path. In the past, the world spoiled your life with temptations and harmful influences. Behold, you woke up to faith and now began to have a new existence of real and fruitful life, in obedience to God.
Financial achievements, recovered health, happy marriage. It doesn’t matter how many blessings were achieved. When dreams come true, many make the same mistake: they go on spiritual “autopilot”.
This “comfort zone” of faith, which occurs when the spiritual life stops moving forward, is very dangerous. The risk of falling into this stagnation is having your faith paralyzed. Not only that, she also starts to backtrack.
Routine steals enthusiasm, ties with God gradually weaken and can burst at any moment. How many times have you stopped feeding your faith, because you thought it was strong enough?
No matter how exemplary the follower of God is , anyone can fall into this error.
Abraham, for example, is considered one of the most well-known and respected figures in the entire Bible. However, unintentionally, he ran the risk of spiritually stagnating. Soon he, a leader admired and respected for his connection with God. That’s why the Lord himself found a way to “pull up against the wall” that patriarch.
confused sacrifice
Much is questioned about why Abraham tried to sacrifice the son he so desired, Isaac, by God’s command. Newly converted Christians – or even some veterans – cannot understand it at first glance.
At first glance, God wanted proof of the old man’s love . For this, Abraham had to sacrifice his legitimate son. Dutifully, he followed the order.
The old man and his son went on their way to Mount Moriah. Isaac, seeing the wood and the knife they were carrying, asked about the lamb that would be burned in sacrifice. Abraham only replied that God would provide the animal.
At the top of the mountain , where God had commanded him, Abraham tied his son and raised the blade to kill him in sacrifice. That’s when an angel held the man and prevented him from committing that act.
How could God ask a father to kill his own son? This is exactly where one of the most interesting questions of the episode is. Abraham waited almost a lifetime for a son, it’s natural that he loved the boy too much, after all Isaac was the fulfillment of a promise made by God himself.
That situation was a test of Abraham’s faith. She would prove to himself how much he was willing to sacrifice in obedience to his Lord. On top of Moriah, Abraham showed his surrender of him when the angel held him.
Abraham understood that God should be above everything and everyone. His heart of him should be on the Lord alone. And his confident attitude of his the moment he agreed to obey the divine request proved that, even though he loved his boy of his, Isaac could never take the place of the Lord in his heart of his.
When a person puts his heart on something or someone, he gives an exaggerated importance to that. And that prevents her from seeing priorities. It can be a loved one, a job, a material asset, an addiction and so many other things that make us think it would be impossible to live without them.
obstructed view
By loving someone more than God, one’s vision is obstructed. Like any of us, Abraham faced this threat.
Probably Abraham went up to the sad mountain, after all he would lose his son. But because he obeyed, God sent him down happy and with new plans .
There’s nothing wrong with loving our family, our achievements, our possessions, as long as it’s done right, each thing in its place with the love appropriate to them.
Aware of this, dear reader, is there something or someone that stands between you and God, reversing priorities? Does your faith seem stopped? How big is your dedication and sacrifice? Isaac was the most precious thing Abraham had. And he was willing to do anything in the name of faith. What have you been doing in the name of your faith?
