Loaned to Boca Juniors, São Paulo player Ricardo Centurión collects controversies: bad performances on the field and fights in nightclubs are not even close to the latest complaints against the striker.
In a video released by the security cameras of a hotel, the attacker appears drunk wanting to fight with companions.
The player’s ex-girlfriend, Melissa Tozzi, told the Argentine newspaper Todo Notícias that she was attacked by Centurión. She filed a complaint at the Quilmes Women’s and Family Police Station, and the athlete was prohibited from approaching his ex by means of a perimeter restriction order.
“I decided to denounce Centurión because he attacked me and mistreated me psychologically. He shattered three of my teeth and even hung me”, revealed Melissa.
The young woman also reported that the player has serious problems with alcohol, and that Centurión’s aggressiveness was accentuated when she tried to end the relationship — a typical characteristic of abusive relationships.
— [At the time of the assault] He was drunk; he didn’t understand that I didn’t want to take this relationship any further. There were two very violent episodes, which started whenever I tried to leave.
According to Melissa, the date of the attack was not the only time the player was under the influence of alcohol – on the contrary. According to the young woman’s testimony, Centurión has serious drinking problems and cannot get rid of it.
“He needs to be aware and help himself. He is an excellent person, but alcohol will still ruin his career as a football player and everything he sets out to do. He has problems with that”, completed the ex-girlfriend.
Melissa said that her ex does not go a day without drinking beer and that she has seen him training with a hangover several times.
Career at Boca Juniors
Centurión was loaned to the Argentine club by São Paulo in August last year. If Boca Juniors does not want to buy him (which would cost around R$ 23 million), he will return to the São Paulo club in the middle of this year.
Recently, the attacker has been suffering from injuries and has been on the bench. According to the Clarín newspaper, the former coach of Boca Juniors, Ricardo La Volpe, spoke out against the allegations of aggression and criticized the club for not having spoken out:
— Professionalism doesn’t just mean training for two hours. It is absurd that the club has not worked on the psychological side of the player after the cases of aggression. Worst of all is that they might want to protect him until the end of the Argentine Championship.
Cases like the player’s can be released
