This morning, the Manchester police made a statement to journalists in which they say that there are children and teenagers among the fatalities.
The authorities’ priority is to identify the author of the attack – a suicide bomber – who apparently acted alone and died at the time of the explosion.
“[The man] was carrying improvised explosive material, which detonated causing this atrocity,” said Iam Hopkins.
The injured are being treated at eight hospitals in the area.
Witnesses report that they heard a big explosion at the end of the pop singer’s show, followed by screams and despair from those present, who tried to leave the place.
The Manchester Arena has a capacity of around 21,000 people and the space was packed.
This attack is being considered the second most impactful in the United Kingdom since 2005. The British Prime Minister, Theresa May, canceled all her agenda for today.
