ABOUT OUR SERVICESThe purpose of UCKG church services is to recognise God's power, goodness, generosity, and love for mankind and to pray for the congregation's needs to be met, both spiritually and physically. Services are informal and interactive. They are led by a bishop or pastor, assisted by other fully trained UCKG pastors. Prayers are spoken aloud, not read from a prayer book. They come from the heart and are spontaneous, informal and relevant to the moment. While certain elements occur in most services, the order of the service is a direct result of the leading pastor's prayer and consecration to God. Thus the act of communion in our Sunday Services can come at any time during the service. Weekday Services are flexible and seek to meet the needs of the congregation. The pastor prays short prayers; and people are encouraged to voice their worries. They receive words of encouragement and practical advice from the Bible. Services last about an hour. Sunday Services are firstly for baptised members of the church, but you don't have to be baptised to attend this service. This service goes into greater depth over the course of about an hour and a half and include Bible readings and prayer and the congregation is encouraged to seek the Holy Spirit and praise God. See below the reason why. Five reasons why God wants your praise Perhaps there is no book in the Bible that exemplifies the spirit of praise and worship more than the Book of Psalms. It contains more verses of praise than any other Book of the Bible showing that God desires to be praised by His people. God tells us to give Him thanks in everything (1 Thess. 5:18), even when things are troubling us. We may not understand what is happening - we may never understand - but God's will is that we still praise and thank Him. But why? 1). Praise is the clearest and most direct means by which you and I declare our dependence on God. 2). It reinforces our trust in Him in the midst of darkness. 3). It confesses our allegiance and devotion to the One who was crucified for us and to whom we are eternally joined. 4). It magnifies God and puts our focus on Him and not on our problems. 5). God's power, presence and ability transforms our thinking. If you want to see a difference in your relationship with Christ, start taking part in the Sunday Worship Meeting every Sunday at 7:30am or 9:30am.
